The Type 99 Main Battle Tank, short for ZTZ-99 Type Main Battle Tank (abbreviation of 'Regulations on the Naming of Weapons and Equipment of the Whole Army' Hanyu Pinyin: Main Battle Tank Armoured Vehicle - Zh? T?n Zhu?ng), is a new generation of main battle tanks of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA).

The T90 tank is the first third-generation main battle tank developed by Russia in the early 1990s.

T90 Main Battle Tank is a further development of the T-72. It was adopted by the Russian Army in 1993 and its low-level production commenced in 1994.
